Clusterfuck #1. Purchasable Booster Packs, Equipment and Booster Slots

Why is this a clusterfuck? First off, it’s absurd to create the most realistic hockey simulation, then sprinkle it with toques, graphiti pads, cammo helmets or plain and simple Golden equipment… I mean what the fuck kind of contradiction is that? Here’s what takes the cake, you buy this shit to increase your player’s skills, with A FUCKIN CREDIT CARD. Can you sense the happy in my all caps? Kudos to the management team over at EA because this is a genius cash cow, but what a fuckin disasterpeice.

Clusterfuck #2. Configuring Purchasable Booster Packs, Equipment and Booster Slots

Ok, so with the combination of Helmet,Skates,Stick and Gloves you have 4 rows of slots, each row contains 3 columns of slots. Let’s do some math.

5+ is $2.25

3+ is $1.67

1+ is $1.12

Helmet ( with 3 boost slots ) $2.25

Skates ( with 3 boost slots ) $2.25

Stick ( with 3 boost slots ) $2.25

Gloves ( with 3 boost slots ) $2.25

Worst case scenario, upgrading your dude full pin is

Equipment: $2.25 x 4 = $9

Slots: 4 Columns x 3 row of 5+ @ $2.25 = $45

GRAND TOTAL = Suck my dick dollars. I mean $54

You’re reading this right, $54 dollars for virtually, fuck all. That takes balls. If you have a wife or girlfriend, I strongly suggest you don’t tell her you purchased this shit because she’ll probably stop fucking you. I’m lucky though, my wife is incredibly awesome.

Clusterfuck #4. The locking up of your unlocked purchased goodies

Oh wait there’s more. Once you purchase all your shiny gear. There’s a possibility of them not working. Here I was skating around with my fire skates and douche bag toque and my 95 slap shot power when all of a sudden I wanted to make changes to some of my attributes, everything I purchased became locked again. Couldn’t use anything I purchased.

Emailed EA, they offered suggestions, nothing helped so they told me to call sony. Did that, ya right, this is the bowels of suicidal tech support. Called EA, they escalated to tier 3 support. No response from them so had to take matter in to my own hands with some good old trouble shoot’n. I eventually solved my own problem by having to delete my entire account on ps3 loosing a bunch of shit, mostly time and sanity. Fix is here if you need it btw…

Clusterfuck #4. Disconnection Problems

There’s a slew of people having disconnection issues. Luckily I’m not one of them, but people on my club are having this problem. They claim not having it when they create a new PSNID, but my theory is the same that fixed my lock problem. Delete your account and re-create it.

Clusterfuck #5. Collision Issues.

Not really a clusterfuck but has been my main gripe with NHL series since 08. When I block the fuckin puck, that puck better not go directly through my body. Sticks, pucks, bodies going directly through sticks, pucks bodies just ruins the game. If I put a stick through your head, you’re probably not going to get up and there’s going to be a fuckin mess on the ice.

Conclusion

While this whole rant was incredibly negative, don’t get me wrong, best fuckin game ever and I know the crew over at EA worked like crazed monkeys to get this game out. This booster pack shit probably created lots of tension in team meetings and you can’t fix everything with deadlines I know so don’t take this to heart. I appreciate the hard work and magnificent game, minus these quirks.

So many different flavors, so much fuckin bullshit. Absurd costs and little to no value. What kind of cumquat dishes out an extra $200 dollars for XP professional just to get remote desktop capabilities? Back to the topic, I’m bad with brain farts. So I was at futureshop the other day and I overhear the sales dude instructing some lady getting a box for her son and she was as baffled as I was with the flavors of xbox. Difference being a few months ago, I had 1 question and they had one answer. “Does arcade have HDMI?” dude answered me “NO, Only the Elite has HDMI”. LIAR

Powered with this knowledge, when I overheard the lady’s same question, I heard the same answer. He glanced at me and I immediately gave this look of “What the fuck are you serious?” followed by this look of ” Rephrase that last sentence or I’ll smash your face open with a brick!”. Funny cause he changed his tune right away and I didn’t have to say a word. Felt awesome, I walked away and smiled and nodded at him and went to the checkout to purchase my brand new copy of Microsoft Office GimpDoucheBag.

On the drive home all I kept thinking was why is that so complicated, isn’t it on the box? Get home, checkout the box and notice it clearly states on the box that the XBOX arcade does NOT come with HDMI… Which is a lie because the one I purchased, as you can see on the photo clearly has HDMI.

When you look at the big picture with their marketing and shitty software/hardware/innovation, It’s almost like their trying to sink their ship on purpose… I have some advice for Microsoft to get better. Whatever you’re doing now, do the complete opposite. 

Good Luck. One more thing, that windows 7 thing, you may want to offer that free of charge to vista users who are still on XP waiting for it to function properly.

If you own an existing xbox like I did, the decision becomes confusing because you want to transfer all your saves and rock band songs on to the new xbox. So if you’re a first gen owner, and your XBOX is coming down to the wonderful Red Ring of Death, they throw you for a loop thinking XBOX elite is the only system with HDMI.

Now unfortunately, when you get the red ring of death, you’re shit’s about to die hardcore. Don’t even bother calling Microsoft, they’re so useless it’s sad. They’ll offer to refurb your shit, thing is, it’ll cost you 100$, not including shipping, and the 1 month turnaround. Unacceptable. They tell you that the only way to transfer your shit over to the new one is with their patented data transfer cable… The only way, really? p.s. In order to get that cable, you have to have the fuckin serial number of your “new” and “old” xbox… Nice.

In reality, I’d say, fuck Microsoft, burn. But truth is, it’s the best gaming console and that’s where they get ya and they know it.

Alright, alright… Long story short.

So, I finally make my decision and say to myself, damn, the wife will shoot me if I blow $500 smackers on a new xbox and get the el cheapo arcade and I’ll start all my games over, fuck it.

Open the box, voila, xbox arcade has HDMI. Take the hard drive off my old xbox, plop that on, plug in the HDMI, BOOM. Everything works like magic. Microsoft rep forgot to tell me that part, Dirty dirty tricksters them are.

Conclusion.

If you have an existing XBOX that’s dying, get the cheapo arcade, it has HDMI and just transfer your HD to it.

I mean, thanks for looking out for me, but are they looking out for users or looking into users. I gather the ladder since corporations don’t give a fuck about you. Why not a simple email so I can see this info when I choose, not forced into my browser when I have some important xbox news to read. Feels like an invasion of my privacy.

Then I got to thinking, if they can pop into any website I visit, they must surely keep track of everyone’s browsing statistics. What sites you visit, what music you purchase, what movies you watch, gathering all that information to use against you when it comes time to pricing or advertising. Then you think, hey they probably track all that television your household watches, the phone calls you make since all your services are with them.

What could they do with all that information? Make money of course, by selling it to advertisers. How far are we until television and internet ads are directed directly at you. What I mean is, let’s say you’ve been planing a snowboarding trip and checking prices online and your neighbor has been checking car prices online, then you both watch American Idol. During the intermission, you’ll see commercials about Snowboarding and he’ll see commercials about Nissan Versa’s or what not. Facebook’s already using this kind of thing with their facebook ads, it’s only a matter of time.

My wife tells me I shouldn’t think so much but you gotta wonder. Anyhow, I feel violated and going to go read my xbox news now.

First off, dear Microsoft, please stop cutting cost on designers. Look at Apple and Playstation, pretty, slick, awesome.
Second, hire innovative, creative talent, don’t steal from others.

After asking HSBC FINANCIAL kindly several times to take me off their call list, the HSBC FINANCIAL phone calls continue to poor in on a daily basis.

• First time, I ask nice.
• Second, Not so nice.
• Third + times, you call, you’re going to get fucked with.

This is truly a company that sucks. After repeated requests to stop contacting me, HSBC FINANCIAL spam department continue to wonder if I’d like a credit card. For the last time HSBC FINANCIAL , I DO NOT WANT or NEED YOUR CREDIT!

Here’s a few things I’ve done to fix the snap, crackle, pop that comes with the onslaught of drivers combos that don’t work with Vista. Chances are you’ve got to this point because you’ve noticed that Creative’s latest drivers, combined with Vista does not let you properly have 5.1 audio. So you’ve had to dig and dig to finally find the hacked ones that do enable proper 5.1 sound.

Here’s what I did.

First try this:
Mute all levels: Line in, line in 2, mic, mic 2, aux, aux 2 and whatever else you don’t need.

Next, open creative’s audio console, make sure 5.1 speakers are chosen ( or whatever your speakers are ), change stuff till the crackling stops.

Still no go ? Turn CMSS off

That should do it… If not, uninstall everything, delete all things creative, shut down. Remove your card, reboot. Shut down, put your card in a different slot, reboot. Install drivers.

Good luck and always remember this lesson you’ve learned.

What’s creative’s answer to this? Nothing, they suggest you purchase new speakers.

My answer to creative, never purchase anything from creative again.

I’m sure glad I google products before I buy them. I was just about to go get myself the x-fi pro because my audigy 2 has been nothing but problematic since my Vista upgrade. Guess I should have googled that before I upgraded to Vista…

Anyhow, thanks everyone on the creative forum for posting and thanks creative for having the decency to not delete this thread, even though it means loosing clients. I recall several years ago when they hid their support on the passworded news groups and going through a similar long thread when I purchased my DTT3500 and found out that those speakers where incompatible the other Sblive card I had, so I had to upgrade to a new sound card that had the digital DIN. Now it’s swapped to my 3500′s not being compatible with the new sound cards… Go figure, brilliance at it’s dimmest.

I didn’t learn my lesson then, but have learnt it know. I will never support anything created by Creative because their sneaky proprietary marketing scams, absolutely horrible customer support, expensive, incompatible shady hardware that becomes obsolete in a few years.

Anyhow, now I’m a hunt for 5.1 gaming and a good ASIO sound card for Vista… Wish me luck.
