I also thank you. Called Adobe Tech support for help. They told me that PS3 is no longer supported and there was nothing that they could do to help me. In other words, “too bad for you”. When I saw the fix, I remembered that I knew about this several years ago, but had forgotten.

My Adobe Photoshop CS v8.0 problem’s had solved on WinXP Pro Sp3, just rename/delete this file “Adobe Photoshop CS Prefs.psp” on this location “C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop\8.0\Adobe Photoshop CS Settings”. Or hold Ctrl + Alt + Shift when start Adobe Photoshop, you will prompt to delete the setting file, click [Yes].

I am using Photoshop CS. What shall i do for the same error “could not initialize photoshop because the file is locked. Use the properties command in the windows explorer to unlock the file”. To which name i have to rename the preferences file? Help me please.. thanks

Try in this way: document and settings -> {your user name} -> local (set up?) and change the permissions for the file TEMP, give complete permissions to your username.
Sorry but I don’t remember the name of last folder in english (mine is in italian).
Anyway is the folder where you have your temporary internet files.
I hope this can help you.
